How do multi graphics cards perform?

Hello guys! If you are a gamer then you are familiar with graphics cards (gpu). Generally the gamers use single gpu.But some of them use multi gpu.Multi gpu using means using more than one single gpu.Okay now gpu’s performance greatly depend on your processor.You must have a powerful processor to handle your gpu.Now let’s get into the point.

Single GPU: A processor contains PCI lanes.Imagine that your processor has 8 PCI lanes.Now if you install a gpu to your computer then the gpu will use the whole 8 PCI lanes of your processor.That’s why the gpu will give the maximum performance it can afford.Now if your processor has 16 PCI lanes then your gpu will give slightly a better performance but not double of 8 PCI lane’s performance.The PCI lanes can may double in number but the performance is not. Yes it will give better but not double.

Multi GPU: Now imagine as before that your processor has 8 PCI lanes.Now if you install 2 gpu’s in your computer then each of the gpu will use 4 PCI lanes.Because they will divide the PCI lanes among them.If the processor contains 16 PCI lanes then each gpu will use 8 PCI lanes.But don’t think that you will get full performance of each gpu.You will get much better performance than before.But not double of the single gpu.You might think that previously the single gpu was using 8 PCI lanes.Now 2 gpu’s are using 8 PCI lanes for each.Now I should get the double of the performance of before.This is totally wrong..You won’t get the double performance.But of course you will get a better performance.

Generally people use multi gpu for graphics designing and some other works.But for gaming you don’t need any multi gpu.My best suggestion for gaming is to stay with single gpu and burn the roads of gaming world.
